NAPOLCOM RO1 conducts BOSH Training

The National Police Commission Regional Office No. 1 is continuously capacitating the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other law enforcement agencies through the conduct of an introduction and orientation training program entitled “Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Training” which is designed to train Uniformed Officers in the government with OSH standards, safety hazards and controls, workplace emergency preparedness encompassing the public sector.

Moreover, it specifically designed to equip the participants of risk reduction to develop the necessary OSH skills, knowledge and attitude and further improve existing working conditions or get rid of work-related accidents/illnesses; and to help the organizations plan and develop strategies for their safety and health programs.

This program was an online modular method wherein topics/subjects were provided within 5 days and was accessed through our Webpage Online Learning Hub (napolcomro1.com). Participants were issued Certificates of Completion with 40 cumulative training hours.

On September 22, 2021, the Regional Office headed by Atty. Monday R. Samson, Regional Director launched the BOSH Training at 2:30 P.M. through video conferencing utilizing Zoom application. Atty. Japheth B. Maningding, Chief, Financial Claims Unit formally welcomed the participants followed by Atty. Samson who introduced the Guest Speaker. Cpt Rannon Yvert Anthony M Cañada, Chief Strategy Alignment of 11th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army as Guest Speaker, encouraged the participants to be more diligent and better protectors in avoiding disturbances and risks in the workplace. He also promoted the maintenance of safety work environment by implementing guidelines and safety measures in their respective workplaces. After which, Ms. Dae Vinia A. Pimentel, Administrative Assistant II presented the rationale and mechanics of the training and the process on accessing the online learning hub webpage.

The culminating activity was held on September 27, 2021 at 2:30 P.M. through video conferencing utilizing Zoom application. Said activity highlighted the inspirational message of Commo Nelson B Torre, Commander of K9-Force of Philippine Coast Guard as Guest Speaker. He was very appreciative for the continuous contribution of the Regional Office’s initiated programs to provide additional knowledge and skills on maintaining proactive measures on safety and health in the workplace amidst the CoVID-19 pandemic.

The BOSH Training was actively participated by various government agencies particularly Police Officers of City/Municipal Police Stations of Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office, Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office, La Union Police Provincial Office and Pangasinan Police Provincial Office as well as personnel of Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force, Philippine Navy, Department of Justice Regional Prosecution Office 1, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, National Bureau of Investigation  and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and NAPOLCOM R1. Dir. George Aplas D. Daskeo, Assistant Regional Director, formally concluded said training.

There were 91 out of 161 participants who completed the training said activity.
