Orientation on Student Crime Prevention Committee (SCPC)

The activity started with an invocation lead by Ms. Carol D. Laoang followed by acknowledgement of sixty-eight (68) participants.

Next, she introduced Mr. Jorge M. Reinante, CSEE, CEO VI, CESO V, the Schools Division Superintendent, Schools Division Office of Ilocos Sur, for his Opening Message. In his message, he expressed his gratitude to NAPOLCOM Regional Office 1 for spearheading this kind of orientation as it will be very helpful in promoting peace and order in schools. He also gave his assurance that the Schools Division Office of Ilocos Sur is committed to be a partner in this endeavor.

After which, Atty. Allan D. Ancheta, Chief of Technical Services Division, introduced Dir. Tolentino G. Aquino, Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Regional Director, Department of Education R1 as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. In behalf of Dir. Aquino, Dr.Edilberto R. Abalos, Chief Education Supervisor, Education Support Services Division, Department of Education, Regional Office, gave the Inspirational Message. In his message, he expressed his appreciation for being invited in the orientation. He also shared the importance of collaboration between the school and government agencies in preventing crimes among students, especially that there is an increasing number of crimes wherein students are involved in.

Then, Atty. Leilani P. Vecina, Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Assistant Regional Director, provided an orientation on Student Crime Prevention Committee. She mentioned the bases of Student Crime Prevention Committee, its composition, duties and responsibilities of the committee and the Board of Advisers. Afterwhich, Atty. Vecina asked the participants if there are any questions and some raised their questions like on the composition of Student Crime Prevention Committee.

Next, Atty. Donato D. Balderas, Jr, Schools Division Superintendent, Schools Division Office of La Union gave his closing message. In his message, he expressed his acknowledgement to NAPOLCOM Regional Office for inviting him and the advisers of Supreme Student Government (SSG) of schools in Ilocos Sur as this as can be a very fruitful avenue to make schools more peaceful and safer for the students. He also emphasized the vital role of teachers as second parents in molding the students to be better citizens in society.

Lastly, Certificates of Appreciation were presented to the Guest of Honor and Speaker, and the distinguished guests for sharing their time and expertise in the said activity.
